Despite having a few glitches and technicalities, it can be concluded that the Apple iPad 2 demonstrates fully the advancement in technology that is now occurring in today's world. In order to fully assess the new iPad 2, we have to look at its competition and after doing this i have to conclude that there is no competition !!! Here is a comparison to one of the other "tablets" available.

We can see that they do have a few features in common and why wouldnt they. The creators of Xoom created their model based on the original iPad and who can blame them for doing this. This just shows that they have excellent taste! Despite being created from its predecessor, this tablet and all the others still cannot rival the iPad 2 in terms of looks and features. They might come close but will never be equal!!

Ok i have to admit that though the iPad 2 lost out because of its price and lack of promised hardware, this device has redeemed itself and is proving to be quite an exceptional device. This redemption comes in the form of its software update.



Apple on its website recently announced iOS 4.3 software update program which allows you to get all the latest updates about software for your iPad2. Guess what, its free!! These new software include airplay enhancements thus enhancing your video streaming capabilities. Also better safari performance thus faster internet speeds which equals faster downloading and also better home sharing allowing you to access your files from anywhere!!

The iPad 2 minus two!!

Well nothing is perfect. In saying this, the new iPad 2 is no different. No matter how much we marvel over this new phenomena, we have be realistic and say it is not perfect. Firstly, the US prices released see the 16GB (WiFi only) iPad 2 costing $499, while the top of the range 64GB WiFi and 3G model will set you back $829!!! Also despite all the available hardware, Apple fell short on its promises and some of the promised features are not available.  There is a limit in upgrades in terms of hardware over the original iPad. You will definitely need that adaptor as no USB ports have been added and Flash is not supported. You will also not be able to enjoy widescreen viewing.
It has been a strange tactic from Apple, as many could quite comfortably stick with their original iPad, unless of course they really want the cameras and the slight increase of speed. The product shows Apple’s desire to continue pressing forward with their technology, but without all that many major changes – do you think it’s too early to start talking up the iPad 3 instead? I say this because the iPad 2 is only a mere improvement of the first iPad.
So though the iPad 2 is great, if you want one with a lot of memory space, in essence if your an average citizen aka. not rich, then you won't be able to buy one. So i guess its back to the first and original iPad then.

That's a mouthful.
Now on to software. This beauty comes with a wide array of apps (applications) which can either be bought or downloaded which all enhance the capability of this device. From games to educational stuff, you can get them. Also it has a 10 hr battery power. Definigtely a step up from it first iPad. You can watch HD movies, get faster web surfing, faster downloads, design it with one of the many available cases to suit your style and best of all.... you can take it anywhere!! To top this all off, it is available at a low low cost. Now with this said, i will definitely have to get one of these with a purple case of course. Hats off to the new iPad 2.

This amazing device and its sleek design is the definition of technology. Its incredibly long battery life is unlike anything else in its class and its vast amounts of features are something to talk and even dream about.It is safe to say that this device does everything! Its two- camera design and amazing camera quality allows for crystal clear video chats, allowing you to check up on that special person and any and everyone you please.Its unexpectedly remarkable sound quality also gives life to its appeal, coupled with its enormous display screen, gives the feeling of actual face to face contact. Nice...BUT!

wow i am simply impressed with apple products. i love the fact that the i-pad has a really long battery life; if it is left unused it lasts up to a month and its construction allows it to be easily handled, besides the less weight the better it is for consumers. what i really love is the cool cover, it is perfect for the i-pad. BUT!!!!!  who is this devise designed for? clearly not the average man. i do not see a need to get an i-pad if im not in entertainment, some areas of business, teaching or media to name some of the few. there is no need to spend money on this "not a need" device. especially at a time when living becomes more expensive everyday. these inventions are good to have but apple's intention is to capitalize on this commercial driven world where the people are easily persuaded into purchasing what they think they want over their needs. SOOOOOO while the i-pad looks pretty and has really nice features, it is not really a must have for me.

This new iPad which has a 10 hour battery life, is only 8.8mm thick with “1GHz dual-core Apple A5 processor and the latest version of iOS, 4.3” (slashgear.com). The iPad 2 also boasts a smart cover with a magnetic strip which automatically aligns and adjusts itself to the iPad 2. The basic physical features of the iPad remain the same. The buttons, speakers and mic are in the same position as the first iPad, but check this, the ipad 2 has an additional rear camera. So with two cameras and a lighter slicker design what else does this iPad have to offer?

The iPad provides faster internet browsing that its predecessor, and also greater speeds of loading and using apps. New apps include Garage Band, improved imovie and with far more processing punch than its predecessor, the iPad 2 allows for more “HD” immersive gaming on the go” (review).

The iPad 2 has taken everything you’ve come to know and love from the original iPad , making it faster, lighter, more compact and much more fun! For those of you who can match up to the prices of anywhere above $499 USD or £399 go out and get yourself one; and seeing that I have been a good girl, I’ll take one as an early Christmas gift.
